For Zaw Naing, 40, who sells satellite imagery to Myanmar’s government, teeing off on the golf course with any of the former generals running the country is essential to sealing deals. Sometimes, he has to do more.

အသက္ 40 မ်ွသာရိွေသာ ေဇာ္ႏိုင္အဖို႔ တိုင္းျပည္အတြင္း မရိွမျဖစ္လိုအပ္ေနေသာ ျဂိဳတု သတင္းထုတ္လြွင္႔မွဳအတြက္ လုပ္ငန္းလိုင္စင္ႏွင္ အပိုပစၥည္းမ်ားသြင္းခြင္႔ရေရးအတြက္ ျမန္မာ စစ္ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ၾကီးမ်ား အပန္းေျဖ ေငြ အခ်ိန္ ျဖဳန္းေလ႔ရိွေသာ ေဂါက္ရိုက္ကြင္းသို႔ သြားေရာက္၍ လုပ္ငန္းအတြက္ ခိုင္မာတဲ႔ အေပးယူေတြလုပ္ခဲ႔ရသည္ဟု ဆိုသည္။

“We have to look at all the culture, all the history; Those organizations want something back,” Naing said in a May 2 interview in his office. “How can you eradicate a culture overnight?”

One of the biggest challenges to Myanmar’s year-old elected civilian government is how to free commerce from the former military-regime insiders who’ve had a lock on the country’s resources, such as oil, timber and gems.

President Thein Sein, 67, the general-turned-civilian who began opening Myanmar to the West after he took office 14 months ago, is aware of the corruption that’s blighting efforts to develop a country that aspires to be the next Asian Tiger. Still, his economic team sees no quick fixes.

အသက္ ၆၇ ႏွစ္ရိွျပီျဖစ္တဲ႔ သမၼတ ဦးသိန္းစိန္အဖို႔  လြန္ခဲ႔တဲ႔ ၁၄ လ အေက်ာ္က ရာထူးလက္ခံတာ၀န္ယူခဲ႔ျပီးေနာက္ အနာဂတ္မွာ အာရွ က်ားတေကာင္ျဖစ္လာဖို႔ဆိုတဲ႔ ရည္မွန္းခ်က္ကေတာ႔ တိုင္းျပည္တျပည္လံုး တိုးတက္လာဖို႔ဆိုတဲ႔ အားထုတ္မွဳအစြမ္းကိုျပႏိုင္ဖို႔ အဂတိ ခ်စားမွဳကို အဓိက သတိျပဳလာရမယ္႔အေနထားကိုေရာက္ရိွလာသည္။ သို႔ေသာ္ သမၼတ၏ စီးပြါးေရးအၾကံေပးအဖြဲ႔ကေတာ႔ ခ်က္ျခင္းၾကီး ျပဳျပင္ေျပာင္းလဲဖို႔ လမ္းစမျမင္ဘူးလို႔ ရွဳ႔ျမင္ထားၾကပါသည္။

“We don’t expect this problem can be eradicated immediately, but we try our best to control, to medicate this problem,” his top political adviser, Ko Ko Hlaing, said in a May 2 interview in Yangon.

သမၼတ၏ ထိပ္တန္းအၾကံေပး ဦးကိုကိုလိွဳင္ကေတာ႔  ျပသနာေတြကို ေလ်ာ႔နည္းလာေအာင္နဲ႔ အေကာင္းဆံုး ထိန္းေၾကာင္းကိုင္တြယ္ဖို႔ အေကာင္းဆံုးက်ိ္ဳးစားေဆာင္ရြက္မယ္လို႔ဆိုပါတယ္။ ဘာျဖစ္လို႔လဲဆိုေတာ႔ အဲဒီ ခ်စား မွဳ ျပသနာကိုေတာ႔ျဖင္႔ ခ်က္ျခင္းပေပ်ာက္သြားေအာင္ အျမစ္ျပတ္သုတ္သင္ဖို႔ က်ေနာ္ အေနနဲ႔ မေမ်ွာ္လင္႔ႏိုင္ေသးပါဟု ေမလ ၂ရက္က ရန္ကုန္တြင္ က်င္းပေသာ သတင္းစားရွင္းလင္းပြဲတြင္ ေျပာၾကားခဲ႔ေၾကာင္းပါ။
