BDN confirms that formal military general Maung Aye in Singapore

Naypyitaw - Myanmar's second most powerful general under the junta that ruled the country for than two decades was hospitalized Monday after suffering a mild stroke, officials said.

Vice-Senior General Maung Aye, who rose to be deputy chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, was admitted to hospital in Naypyitaw.
"He is sick and will go to Singapore for treatment," said Htay Oo, general secretary of ruling Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP). "His condition is not that serious," he added.
The USDP is the political arm of the military establishment, which ruled the country through various regimes from 1962.
Myanmar has been under nominal civilian rule since the pro-military USDP came to power after winning a general election in November . Now Mayng Aye is in Singapore Sinhua hospital.
